This game was the fist time this season that the Colts faced off against a Region XV and Mid-Hudson Conference opponent.
The first game of this series was on Friday April 4th. Both teams showed great success inside the batters box but was the Colts who came out victorious. The Colts opened up the game scoring an early run in the top of the first inning. In his first at bat of the game Brian Saldana triples on a line drive to right field and soon would reach home on a passed ball. Brian would later extend the Colts lead to 3-0 after doubling to right field driving in Ben Intili and Dylan Williams.
The Colts held the Vikings scoreless through the first three innings and after trailing by five runs in the fifth inning the Vikings closed the gap scoring three unanswered runs to cut the lead to within two.
In the top of the 8th inning the Colts scored two more runs to give them a four point advantage over the Vikings. The Vikings managed to scored three more runs before the end of the game but was not enough to overcome the Colts.
Defeating the Vikings by a score of 8-7, Brian Saldana earned the win for the Colts. The righty gave up 12 hits and six runs (four earned) over seven and two-thirds innings, striking out eight batters and walking three. Gabe Alfonso earned the save as the lengthy right handed pitcher threw one and one-third inning allowing two hits and one run while striking out and walking one batter.
Game #2 the Colts fall to the Vikings after being held scoreless 10-0 through seven innings of play.
Evan Johnson picked up the loss for the Colts. the lefty hurler went four and two-thirds innings surrendering nine runs (seven earned) on seven hits, striking out four and walking three.
Freshman #20 Jonas Kerzner led the way for the Colts in hits. The right handed hitter went three-for-three with a double. Jadin O'Neil, Michael Fontaine and AJ Grant each collected a hit in the game.
Game #3 the suffer their second loss in a row to the Vikings. The Vikings got on the board first after a lead-off triple on the first pitch of the game, followed by a double to bring the runner from third home. After an 8-0 start the Colts scored one run in return after AJ Grant drew the walk with two outs, a 3-2 count and the bases loaded.
Brian Saldana took the loss for the Colts the starter went for two and one-third innings allowing 12 runs (eight earned) on nine hits while striking out two and walking two. AJ Grant led the Colts with one RBI. Jonas Kerzner, Jadin O'Neil, Matthew Nixon and Dylan Williams each collected one hit for the Colts.
After a tough game the Colts lose to the Vikings of Westchester 31-2.
Game #4 the Colts fell to the Vikings by a score of 4-3 to complete the four game series.
In this game the Vikings got on the board first in the second inning after a two RBI single. This in this low scoring contest neither team was able to find their spark as their was a combined 16 hits.
Freshman #45 Anthony Borromoeo took the loss for the Colts. The right-handed pitcher threw for six innings surrendering four runs on nine hits striking out three batters and walking two.
Brian Saldana led the way for the Colts with two hits in four at bats, Jadin O'Neil went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with one RBI.
Freshman Third baseman #20 led the way for the Colts inside the batters box in the four game series. Finishing 7/13 for a batting average of .538, hitting one double, drawing one walk and striking out only one time.
The Colts will look to finish up their four game series against the Hawks of Rockland County Community College on Saturday April 26th for an afternoon doubler header.
