Flemington, NJ - The SUNY Orange Colts fell in both games to Raritan Valley on Sunday afternoon. With this loss the Colts drop to 0-4 as the Lions improve to 5-1 on the season.
Game one - Raritan Valley (10) - SUNY Orange (0)
The Lions struck in the first inning , bringing in one run off of an RBI groundout. Raritan Valley went on to add six runs in the second inning to bring their lead to 7-0.
Raritan Valley added two more runs in the fourth inning and closed out the game in the sixth inning with a home run making the final score 10-0.
The Colts struggled to generate offence throughout the game, only generating four hits the whole game. The hits came from Jonas Kerzner, Jackson Atwell, Garrett Srednicki and Micheal Fontaine.
Jacob Morino got the start facing 22 batters and allowed six earned runs. Anthony Borromeo had a relief appearance facing seven batters allowing one earned run and striking out two batters.
Game Two - Raritan Valley (10) - SUNY Orange (9)
In the opening inning the Colts brought in one run thanks to an RBI from AJ Grant. Raritan Valley quickly responded by bringing in four runs leading, 4-1.
The Colts went on to score two more runs in the second to cut the Lions lead to 4-3. The runs came off of an RBI by Jacob Morino. The Lions pitcher balked in another run, bringing Ryan Fernandez across the plate. The Colts held the Lions to a scoreless inning.
SUNY Orange went on to score four more runs in the third inning. Thanks to a double from Ryan Fernadez bring in a 2 run RBI. Jacob Morino had a double bring in two more runs. In the fourth inning the Colts scored one run off an RBI by Thomas Grogan. The Colts took the lead 8-4.
In the fifth inning the Lions scored two runs on a home run, cutting their deficit to 8-6. Raritan Valley would then take the lead in the sixth inning after bringing in four more runs.
The Colts tried to rally in the seventh inning after AJ Grant doubled to center field to bring in a run, but it was not enough as Raritan Valley took the game 10-9.
Alex Sanchez got the start facing 12 batters, striking out three batters and allowing three earned runs. Connor Griffin made a relief appearance facing 13 batters, striking out one batter and allowing two earned runs. Julian Butcher made a brief appearance facing seven batters allowing four earned runs. Anthony Borromeo also made a brief appearance facing one batter and having one strike out.
