On Saturday May 3rd the SUNY Orange Colts took on the Catamounts of Potomac State for an afternoon double header.
Last season the SUNY Orange Colts faced off against the Catamounts in the first round where Potomac State got the better of the Colts taking both games.
In game one the Catamounts were too much for the Colts to handle and fell 8-0, Potomac State got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning scoring three early runs. After holding the Catamounts scoreless in the second inning, Potomac State would then go on to score five runs in the last three innings of the game
In this game the Colts had their troubles inside the batters box, pitcher Gianna Catletti took the loss for the Colts. The right-handed pitcher went four innings, giving up eight runs on seven hits.
The Colts looked to jump back in game two and keep their season alive with a win.
Game 2 the Colts had their backs against the wall in a win or go home situation. Like game one the Catamounts jumped out to an early lead scoring five runs in the first inning and soon scored one run in the bottom of the second and third to give them a 7-0 lead over the Colts through three innings.
To start off a the top of the fourth inning the Colts opened things up with back-to-back singles from Hannah Moulton and Emily Ketcham. With one out Lindsay Keane drew a four pitch walk, next up to the plate with one out and bases loaded was Sydney Benware who hit a 2 RBI single to center field. Continuing their fourth inning success Caroline Farrell singled on a ground ball to third base to give the Colts another bases loaded opportunity. After five pitches Sophomore Julia Sorrentino cuts the lead down to four runs after collecting a walk.
In the final two innings of the game Potomac State scored two runs to give them a 9-3 win over the Colts. Pitcher Sydney Benware suffered the loss for the Colts, the right-handed pitcher threw for six innings, surrendering nine runs on ten hits, striking out six and walking two.
Hannah Moulton, Emily Ketcham, Sydney Benware and Caroline Farrell each collected a hit for the Colts; Sydney Benware and Julia Sorrentino each drove in one run.
SUNY Orange displayed patience inside the batters box, tallying four walks for the game.
With this loss the SUNY Orange Colts wrap up the 2025 season with a 16-12 record (H:10-4, A:6-8)
