Newton, NJ - The SUNY Orange softball team split with Sussex County Community College on March 26, 2026. With the final scores being 13-4 in favor of the Colts and 4-3 in favor of the Skylanders.
Game One - SUNY Orange (13) - Sussex County (4)
The Skylanders brought in one run in the first inning, but the Colts quickly responded by bringing in four runs in the first inning.
In the second inning the Colts added four more runs, while keeping the Skylanders to a scoreless second inning. Extending the Colts lead to 8-1.
In the third inning Sussex County added one more run, while the Colts drove in five more runs. The Skylanders brought in two more runs in the fourth inning, bringing the score to 13-4.
Boyh teams were held to a scoreless fifth inning, with the Colts closing out the game with a 13-4 win.
Pitching for the Colts was freshman Taylor Horaz. Horaz pitched all five innings facing 25 batters allowing four earned runs and striking out seven batters.
Game Two - Sussex County (4) - SUNY Orange (3)
The Skylanders took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Sussex brought in an additional run in the second inning, while the Colts answered back with one run of their own, cutting their deficit to 2-1.
In the third both teams brought in one run bringing the score to 3-2 in favor of Sussex. The Colts were able to tie the game up at 3-3 in the fifth inning.
Sussex brought in one more run in the seventh inning, and held the Colts to a scoreless inning to secure the 4-3 win.
Bridget O'Leary got the start for the Colts and pitched 6.0 innings facing 33 batters allowing four earned runs and having 10 strike outs. Taylor Horaz made a brief appearance facing three batters.
The Colts are back in action on March 29, to face Bloomfield at home for a doubleheader; the first game is scheduled to start at 12:00 pm.
