Round 1- #1 Nassau vs. #8 LaGuardia
Round 1-#2 FIT vs. #7 Queensborough CC
Round 1- #3 Monroe-Bronx vs. #6 Orange CC
Round 1- #4 Westchester vs. #5 Dutchess
The four teams that win round one will advance to the semifinals and final hosted at Dutchess Community College, scheduled for Saturday, November 1 at 12:00 PM.
This Season Against Tournament Teams
SUNY Orange went 2-6 in matches against the tournament teams. The Colts swept LaGuardia and Dutchess while dropping matches to Nassau, FIT, Monroe-Bronx, Westchester, Dutchess and Queensborough.
On October 11 SUNY Orange faced both Nassau and Monroe-BX, where they fell 3-1 to Nassau and 3-0 to Monroe-BX.
The Colts were on the road to face FIT on October 4. This match ended with a 3-2 final score in favor of FIT.
Queensborough Community College took the match on October 18, with a final score being 3-1.
Against Mid-Hudson Conference opponent Westchester, the Colts opened its season on the road with a tough 3-0 loss. The Colts dropped an additional match against Westchester 3-0 on October 14.
SUNY Orange split their two matches against another Mid-Hudson Conference opponent Dutchess CC. In their first battle at home, Dutchess took home the win with a 3-1 victory. The Colts bounced back on the road taking the match with a 3-0 victory.
The Colts closed out their regular season with a win against LaGuardia taking the match with a dominant 3-0 win.
Players to Watch
#1 Nassau- Freshman Rhianna Miller has played in 20 matches (76 sets) and has totaled 224.5 points with 185 kills, nine assists, 197 digs and 39 service aces. Sophomore Alexandra Pierre-Saint has 196.5 points in 22 matches (83 sets) with 122 kills, seven assists, five digs and four service aces.
#2 FIT- Freshman Beatriz Vidal has appeared in 18 matches (50 sets) collecting 187 points, 135 kills, three assists, 138 digs and 49 service aces. Freshman Juun Shin has played in 17 matches (59 sets) having 167 points, 76 kills, 169 digs and 7.2 service digs.
#3-Monroe-Bronx- Sophomore Cherlialix Carmona is ranked first in the region for kills per set and totals 329 points in 22 matches (75 sets) with 265 kills, 14 assists, 174 digs and 59 service aces. Sophomore Gabriela De La Rosa has appeared in 20 matches (66 sets) totaling 216 points, 169 kills, four assists, 71 digs and 46 service aces.
#4 Westchester– Freshman Alicia Bambace has played in 19 matches (68 sets) and has totaled 200 points with 128 kills, nine assists, 177 digs, and 70 service aces. Sophomore Yulis Vidal has totaled 215.5 points in 19 matches (67 sets) with 140 kills, 25 assists, 276 digs, and 37 service aces.
#5 Dutchess– Freshman Dafina Berisha has collected 361.5 points with 272 kills, 64 assists, 214 digs, and 83 service aces. Berisha is ranked second in the region for kills, kills per set, first for total attacks, fourth in service aces and first in points. Sophomore Kayla Baez has 230.5 points with 171 kills, 16 assists, 130 digs, and 42 service aces.
#6 SUNY Orange- Angelina Rivera has played in all 20 matches (67 sets) and has totaled 194 kills, 23 assists, 149 digs, and 72 service aces, totaling 282.5 points. Rivera is currently ranked fourth in the region for kills per set, and second for service aces. Sophomore Lily Noteboom has played in 20 matches (67 sets) and has collected 111 kills, 97 assists, 134 digs, and 64 service aces, totaling 161.5 points.
#7 Queensborough- Laury Rodriguez has totaled 198 points in 20 matches (68 sets) with 143 kills, 72 digs, three assists, 72 digs and 21 service aces. Freshman Samantha Mateo has appeared in 21 matches (71 sets) collecting 121 kills, three assists, 231 digs and 54 service aces.
#8 LaGuardia- Freshman Valeria Duque-Naranjo has appeared in 17 matches (55 sets) with 218.5 points, 111 kills, 4 assists, 115 digs and 86 service aces. Freshman Jennely Ortega has totaled 104 points, 52 kills, 12 assists, 92 digs and 50 service aces.
