Alumni Day vs the Jamestown Jayhawks

On Saturday January 18th the SUNY Orange Colts played host to the Jayhawks of Jamestown Community College for the 2025 Athletic Alumni Day in conjuction with SUNY Orange's Year long celebration of the College's 75th Anniversity. Saturday's game's were sponsored by L.A.B.H Sports created by a SUNY Orange Alumni, Rob Hueston.
In the game the Colts took care of business defeating Jamestown 84-69 to move on to a 15-3 record after winning back-to-back games. Orange opened things up with a Marquis Gill three pointer for the games first points. To start this game neither team showed signs of backing down with both teams trading shots. After the first five minutes of the game the score stood at 9-9 until the Jayhawks were able to earn their very first lead of the game 12-11 forcing SUNY Orange to call their first timeout of the game at the 13:37 mark. Out of the timeout break the Colts quickly regain their lead after Marquis Gill was able to find Mat Shea wide open for the three pointer to make the score 14-12.
With 11:25 left in the first half, the Jayhawks were forced to call their first timeout after the Colts took their largest lead of the half by a score of 21-16. The Colts would then go on to outscore the Jayhawks 14-9 giving them a 44-39 lead going into the half.
During halftime, SUNY Orange honored our athletic alumni which featured respected Hall of Famers, current faculty and recent graduates. Alumni were recognized for all that they did and continue to do for SUNY Orange. Special thank you to SUNY Orange Alumni Rob Hueston and his company L.A.B.H Sports, as well as thanks to SUNY Orange Alumni and former Men's Basketball Assistant Coach, Kevin Dorelus of Dorelus Entertainment for serving as the days DJ.
Out of the break the Colts scored first with a Marquis Gill three pointer to open up the second half. The Colts jumped out to almost a 20 point lead as they outscored the Jayhawks 20-4 during the first five minutes of the half. With just under 10 minutes left in the game the SUNY Orange Colts led by 27 points. Forwards Jabari Phillip and Mathew Shea both had big second halves. Jabari Phillip led the Clots with 19 points in the second half and Mathew Shea finished the second half scoring nine points.
After 40 minutes of play the SUNY Orange Colts were victorious defeating Jamestown 84-69,So. Forward #22 Jabari Phillip was named the game's "MVP" by game sponsor L.A.B.H Sports after finishing with 31 points and seven rebounds.

- So. Forward #22 Jabari Phillip led the way for the Colts in points earning himself "Most Valuable Player" in the game. Jabari finished in a three-way tie with teammates Mat Shea and Kassius Paulin who all finished with seven recorded rebounds. This game was the third time this season where Jabari finished with 30 or more points with this being a season high in points beating his previous high by just one point. Jabari finished the game with his highest shooting percentage of the season shooting 13/15 an amazing 86.7% from the field while also going 5-7 from the free throw line.
-So. Forward #24 Mathew Shea was the second highest scorer for the Colts scoring 16 points with nine of the 16 coming in the second half. Shea also added seven rebounds, two assists , two steals and a block to his night.
-So. Guard #3 Daniel Lans was the third and final Colt to score over ten points in the outing against Jamestown. Lans finished with 12 points on 6-11 shooting, also added six rebounds and led the way for the Colts in Assists and Steals with nine assists and three steals.
The Colts will look to continue their win streak facing off against Lackawanna Community College on Thursday January 23rd for their third home game in a row.
