Colts Impress On Both Ends in 100-48 Win
Stone Ridge, N.Y. - The SUNY Orange men's basketball team forced 38 turnovers and shot an impressive 63.8% from the field en route to a 100-48 road win over SUNY Ulster Thursday night. The Colts improve to 6-0 on the season while the Senators drop to 1-5.
Four Colts recorded double-digit points, led by freshman Gavin Williams (Fort Myers, FL / Bishop Verot) with an extremely efficient 22 points, shooting 8-11 from the field and 6-8 from three-point distance. Joining Williams with double-digit points were Joseph Jennings (Brooklyn, NY / Nazareth) and Keishawn Morris (Brooklyn, NY / South Shore) with 11 points, and Marquese Dennis (Brentwood, NY / Brentwood) with 10 points.
Alex Joseph led the Senators with 14 points.
Although the Colts shot 63.8% from the field and 40.0% from the field, the defensive side of the ball was the story of the night. The Colts recorded 17 steals, six of those coming from Jennings alone, and converted the 38 Sentors turnovers into 56 points. The stellar transition offense led to the Colts converting on 27 of 33 attempts in the paint, many of those finishing above the rim.
The Colts are back in action Saturday as they play host to LaGuardia. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
