Men’s Basketball Takes Down Sussex County
Newton, NJ - The SUNY Orange men's basketball team earned an 85-61 road victory over Sussex County Community College. With this win, the Colts improve to 10-0 as the Skylanders fall to 3-9.
The Colts came out with energy, quickly establishing an early lead and setting the tone for the rest of the game. Their fast start carried them into halftime with a 37-30 advantage over the Skylanders. Coming back from the break, the Colts maintained their face paced style of play, continuing to control the tempo and extend the lead throughout the second half on their way to an 85-61 victory.
Freshman Anthony Pacciarelli (Monroe, NY/ St. Joseph) led the Colts with 21 points on 9-20 shooting and chipped in six rebounds. Sophomore Darren McFarlane (Bronx, NY/ Monsignor Scanlan) finished the night with an all around performance with 12 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and three blocks. Keishawn Morris (Brooklyn, NY/ South Shore) also finished with 12 points while contributing five rebounds, four assists and four steals.
As a team, SUNY Orange shot an efficient 50.0% from the field. The Colts defensive effort was key, forcing 30 Sussex County turnovers and turning those into scoring opportunities.
The Colts are back in action on December 13 to face Mohawk Valley at home.
