Colts Complete Season Sweep of Ulster with 102-72 Win
Newburgh, NY - The SUNY Orange Colts men's basketball team completed the season sweep over SUNY Ulster Tuesday night with a 102-72 win.
Anthony Pacciarelli (Monroe, NY / St. Joseph Regional) led all scorers with a career-high 50 points on an extremely efficient 16-24 shooting from the field. He was also 9-13 from three-point distance and 9-10 from the free throw line. Pacciarelli's 50 points are the second most in a single game in program history, trailing only Steve Schumer, who scored 54 against Westchester during the 1961-62 season. His nine three threes is also second in a single game in program history, behind only Neal Wilkins' 10 threes against Suffolk during the 2004-05 season.
Alex Joseph led Ulster with 19 points and nine rebounds. Oliver Weiss contributed 15 points.
Darren McFarlane (Bronx, NY / Monsignor Scanlon) and Keishawn Morris (Brooklyn, NY / South Shore) led Orange with 8 rebounds each, while Johnny Floyd (Bronx, NY / James Monroe) tied a career-high with five assists.
The Colts used their normal smothering defense to force 28 Ulster turnovers. Giovani Rupert (Miami, FL / Flanigan) led the Colts with three steals. Defense led to an efficient offense, as the Colts shot 54% from the field on the night, as well as 48% from three-point distance and 76% from the line, assisting on 24 of their 34 made baskets.
The Colts are back in action Thursday when they host Rockland Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm following the conclusion of the women's basketball game.
