Colts to Face Prince George's in NJCAA First Round
Danville, IL - The SUNY Orange Colts men's basketball team drew the 15-seed in the 2026 NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship for the second straight year and will face the Prince George's Owls in the first round on Monday, March 16. The Colts secured their spot in the tournament after defeating Rockland 84-82 in the Region XV Championship and then Mercer 102-83 in the East A District Championship.
The Colts are back in the national tournament for the third time in the last four years, after making trips to the big dance in 2023 and 2025.
Freshman Anthony Pacciarelli (Monroe, NY / St. Joseph Regional) leads the Colts with 26.5 points per game, currently second best in the country among all Division II players. Pacciarelli scored a career-high 50 points against Ulster on February 10 and has scored 30 or more points 11 times this season. He is currently leading the Colts in three-point percentage (41.9) and is second on the team in free throw percentage (79.0). Following the regular season, Pacciarelli was named Region XV Division II Player of the Year, Region XV Division II First Team All-Region and Region XV Division II Tournament MVP.
Sophomore forward Darren McFarlane (Bronx, NY / Monsignor Scanlon) has been a force inside for the Colts all year, averaging 14.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. McFarlane's points per game, field goals (165), free throws (78), and blocks per game (0.8) are all good for second on the team, while he leads the team in rebounds (218) and rebounds per game. McFarlane also averages 1.6 steals per game, good for third most on the team. McFarlane took home Region XV Division II Second Team honors and was named to the Region XV Division II All-Tournament Team.
Sophomore guard Keishawn Morris (Brooklyn, NY / South Shore) is third on the team in scoring, averaging 13.8 points per game. He scored a career-high 35 points against Army Prep on February 2 and has scored 20 or more points seven times this season. Morris has been a defensive stalwart for the Colts all year, leading the team with 2.5 steals per game, totaling 13 games with 3 or more steals, including a career-high 7 steals against Rockland on February 12. Morris joined Pacciarelli on the Region XV Division II All-Region First Team and was named to the Region XV Division II All-Tournament Team with Pacciarelli and McFarlane.
Frehsman guard Gavin Williams (Fort Myers, FL / Bishop Verot) was named to the Region XV All-Region Second Team after a solid debut season where he led the team in free throw percentage (82.0) and finished second in three-point percentage (38.5). Williams scored a career-high 22 points against Ulster on November 20, shooting 8-11 from the field and 6-8 from three, and then matched his career-high against Mercer on January 24. Williams was lights out from the field again, shooting 8-11 from the field, 4-6 from three and 2-2 from the line.
The Colts are currently ranked fourth in the nation in steals per game (12.7) and turnovers forced per game (18.3), fifth in opponent's field goal percentage (38.9) and opponent's three-point percentage (28.3), ninth in field goal percentage (50.0), 11th in points per game (91.1) and 17th in opponent's points per game (68.2).
Prince George's (24-7) enters the tournament as the 18-seed after knocking off CCBC Dundalk in the Region XX Championship, 74-66, and is back in the tournament after making a trip to the Division III tournament in 2023 and 2024. The Owls are led by sophomore guard Willie Rivera Jr., who averages 17.7 points and 2.6 assists per game.
Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 pm and the game can be streamed on the NJCAA Network.
