Colts Fall in Region XV Championship

Middletown, NY - On Sunday March 1st the SUNY Orange Colts fell to the Vikings of Westchester Community College in the Region XV DII Women's Basketball Championship. 

Going into the contest the two teams had faced off twice this season with the Colts falling to the Vikings on both occasions. The Colts first played the Vikings on November 18, where the Vikings took that contest 64-41. SUNY Orange traveled to Westchester on February 5, where the Colts fell to the Vikings 78-48. 

The Vikings jumped out to a swift lead in the Championship, the Colts found themselves trailing throughout. The Vikings leg going into halftime 47-10.  Returning from the break Westchester picked up where they left off with their fast pace of play, the Colts picked up their pace to put away 33 points in the second half,out shooting the Vikings in the fourth quarter 18-11 but it was not enough as the Vikings took the 83-43 victory. 

Leading the Colts was sophomore Adriana Vazquez (Newburgh, NY / John. S. Burke) with 19 points, four rebounds, one assist, four steals and one block. Freshman Grace Breheny (Cornwall, NY / Cornwall Central) followed with 11 points, six rebounds, one assist and one steal.
