Women’s Volleyball Falls Short to Westchester Community College in Season Opener
Valhalla, NY - The SUNY Orange women's volleyball team fell to Westchester 3-0 in their season opener on Thursday night. The Colts moved to 0-1 while the Vikings improved to 1-0.
The first set was a close, back and forth battle that went down to the wire, with the Vikings securing the final two points to pull away, 26-24.
The hometown Vikings found their groove in the second set, recording 12 kills in route to a 25-16 win.
The Colts kept things close in the third and final set until Westchester pulled away late, winning 25-18.
Leading the way offensively was freshman Angelina Rivera, with seven kills, five digs and one solo block totaling nine points for the match. Sophomore Lily Noteboom contributed five kills, three digs and one block assist.
Next up, the Colts continue conference play with their home opener on Thursday, September 11 against Rockland Community College. That match is scheduled to begin at 7 PM.
