Middletown, NY - The SUNY Orange softball team dropped two games to Bloomfield College on Sunday afternoon. With the final scoring of the games being 19-11 and 7-6.
Game One- Bloomfield (19) - SUNY Orange (11)
The Bloomfield Bears brought in one run in the first, but the Colts quickly responded by bringing in two runs to take a 2-1 lead.
SUNY Orange held the Bears to a scoreless second inning, while also driving in two more runs to extend their lead 4-1.
In the fourth inning the Bears rallied to bring in four runs, but the Colts did not let up, bringing in three more runs to keep the 7-5 lead. In the fifth inning the Bears took control after adding five runs to take the 10-7 lead over the Colts.
The Colts were held scoreless in the fourth and fifth inning, but the Bears brought in one run in the fifth bringing their lead to 11-7.
In the sixth inning the Colts kept the Bears scoreless, but drove in one run to cut their deficit to 11-8.
The Bears drove in eight more runs in the seventh inning, while the Colts tried to rally but it was not enough as they brought in three runs. The Bears secured the 19-11 win.
Bridget O'Leary pitched all seven innings facing 49 batters having 10 earned runs and five strike outs.
Game Two- Bloomfield (7) - SUNY Orange (6)
The Colts stuck first bringing in two runs in the opening inning taking the 2-0 lead.
In the second inning the Bears rallied to bring in seven runs, while limiting the Colts to one run. Taking the 7-2 lead over the Colts.
The Colts added another run in the third inning, and two more runs in the fifth inning bringing the score to 7-6.
Both the Colts and Bears held each other to a scoreless sixth and seventh inning as the Bears closed out the game with the 7-6 victory.
Pitching for the Colts was Taylor Horaz facing 35 batters, allowing four earned runs and striking out seven batters.
The Colts are back in action on March 31 as they host County College of Morris in a double header. The first game is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
