Women’s Volleyball goes 1-1 on Saturday Afternoon

Poughkeepsie, NY- SUNY Orange splits the day with a 3-1 loss against Bergen CC and a 3-0 win over LaGuardia CC. The Colts are now 10-10 on the season. 

Match One- Orange (1)- Bergen (3)

The Colts struggled to find rhythm early as Bergen took the first set 25-14. In the second set, SUNY Orange came out strong and finished the set with a 25-14 win. Bergen came out in the third set and regained control of the match as they took the set 25-14. The Bulldogs finished with a 25-17 win in the closing set and took the match 3-1. 

Match Two- Orange (3)-LaGuardia (0)

The Colts came out strong and set the tone for the match taking the first set 25-16. SUNY Orange continued to control the match as they took the second set 25-19. In the closing set the Colts dominated and closed out with a 25-8 win completing the 3-0 sweep. 

Freshman Angelina Rivera finished the day with a combined 46 points, 35 kills, and 22 digs. Freshman Janis Miola had a total of 18 points, 13 kills, and eight digs in the two matches. Sophomore Camryn Benjamin contributed 16.5 points, 13 kills ,and 10 digs between the two matches. 

Next up, the Colts move on to the Region 15 quarterfinals. They are on the road to face #3 Monroe-Bronx on Thursday, October 30th at 7:00 PM.
