Middletown, NY- The SUNY Orange women's volleyball team fell to both Nassau Community College (3-1) and Monroe University-Bronx (3-0). With these losses the Colts now drop to 8-6.
Match One-SUNY Orange (1)-Nassau (3)
Nassau controlled the opening set as the Colts struggled to find their rhythm, taking it 25-18.
The Colts bounced back in the second set, coming out with energy and winning 25-15 to tie the match.
The third set was a back-and-forth battle. SUNY Orange held a brief lead late, but couldn't close it out, and Nassau edged the set 25-23.
The fourth and final set followed a similar pattern. The Colts fought to gain an advantage, but Nassau held on and secured the 25-23 win to take the match.
For the Colts, freshman Angelina Rivera (Paramus, NJ/Minisink Valley) had 14 points with 14 kills and three digs. SophomoreCamryn Benjamin (Walden, NY/Valley Central) added 10 points with six kills and five digs.
Match two-SUNY Orange (0)- Monroe University-Bronx(3)
The first set was a close contest, but the Express pulled away late to win 26-24.
In the second set, Monroe built an early lead and maintained control, taking it 25-17.
The Express closed out the match with a dominant 25-13 win in the third. The Colts fought hard but couldn't regain their rhythm.
Rivera led SUNY Orange again with 9.5 points, eight kills, and three digs. Sophomore Lily Noteboom (Goshen, NY/Goshen) added seven points, seven kills, and three digs.
The Colts return to action on October 14 when they host Westchester Community College.
